Two remarkable movies to watch this weekend

This weekend was a double movie weekend, which is a rare treat for Deb and I. Even more remarkably, both films were outstanding so I thought it would be a good idea to spread the good news.

Ides Of March

Great political thriller. I go to all of Clooney's movies because I think he is one of the brightest guys in the business and rarely misses in his choice of films. I don't like all of his work, «The Tourist» was a disappointment, but it happens to everyone. This film he directed and co wrote the script.

Exceptional work, full of real tension and more importantly a non black and white look at american politics. The cast is great: Paul Giamatti, Phillip Seymour Hoffman and the young and wonderful Ryan Gosling.

The budget is estimated to have been a little over 12 mil. By the end of October that film has made over 30 in the US alone. Good investment.

About 5 years ago I read a book about a theory that the real genius behind Shakespeare who was an actor was actually Edward De Veere, Earl of Oxford.

This film is based on that theory, which, in my opinion is solid. A lot of the «history» has been sort of bended to make the film more exciting but I don't really care about that in this case.

The script is beautifully written, very rich, and the visual part is simply stunning. The production designer is a genius and the DP makes every shot look like a masterpiece.

For both films, check the rating according to your tolerance level.

The reason I am including a financial analysis is because as exec producer, I am working on financing a great film «Idea In America» with Orlando Bloom and Nick Nolte.

These two movies are a true feast for movie lover. Enjoy.
